The flights from Almaty to Munich were difficult. In spite of great attention by staff on Turkish Airlines it was no picnic in the park. The food was wonderful, as usual, but I want first and foremost to commend the empathy and compassion of a flight staff - on all three legs of the flight - that was beyond superb. Tim and I will never be able to thank them enough for all the ways they went the extra mile to make the flights as comfortable for me as humanly possible.
Today, I write to all of you from Herzlich Willkommen im Klinikum der Universitat Munchen where I have been hospitalized since March 16, 2014. The team of doctors I have is fantastic and I could not have landed anywhere better (this side of Mayo Clinic). Headed by its two leaders, Professor/ Doctor Wolf Mutschler and Professor/Doctor Ekkehard Euler, a group of six visit the room each day. This is a teaching hospital and the mentorship and quality leadership is obvious, whether in German or English. Guardian Angels really do watch over each of us. If not, I am sure I would not have landed here.
